NCVS in the Community - Healthwatch Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Community Roadshow

On Tuesday 30 April 2024 Davia, Projects Support Administrator, Billie, Communications and Marketing Coordinator, and Jules, CEO, went down to The Vine Community Centre to represent Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service (NCVS) at the first city-based Community Roadshow. It was a lovely spring day, and we were honoured to be working in partnership with Healthwatch Nottingham and Nottinghamshire (HWNN) and Nottingham City Placed-Based Partnership (NCPBP) to host this event, and we couldn't have asked for a better turnout.

Working towards a Trauma Informed Nottingham and Nottinghamshire

Our Practice Development Unit (PDU) team, along with Changing Futures, attended a workshop this April to help shape implementation plans for the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Trauma Informed Strategy. As a member of the Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP) Trauma Informed Implementation Group, we joined several agency partners to consider priorities and objectives for the partnership over the next year.

Sport England Small Grants Fund 2024

This is an open fund and you are welcome to apply at any time. Please apply for funding at least 12 weeks before you need the funding.

The Small Grants Programme aims to develop opportunities for communities to get more people physically active and will support new or existing projects by providing National Lottery funding of between £300 and £15,000 for voluntary or community organisations.

Projects must involve at least one of the following areas:

Volunteer Management software review

Dave Thomas, Volunteering Development Officer at NCVS, continues his series of articles in support of Leaders of Volunteers. This time, Dave looks into different Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems that could be used by organisations to manage their volunteer programme.

While many of us are still using old-school solutions such as Excel and Google Sheets to manage our volunteer programmes, an increasing number of Leaders of Volunteers tell me that they are either using or thinking about using specialised software for this task.

Groundwork - VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme

This fund closed to applications in August 2024

The VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme will help voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations across England deliver more efficient services for people and communities by saving money on their energy bills. The scheme is funded as part of a package of over £100 million of support being delivered by the Government to help frontline delivery organisations with the increased cost of living.

Building Resilience in Ethnically Diverse Communities: what we've learned

There are definite inequalities within our communities. Breaking down barriers and stigma is fundamental to people engaging. Better health outcomes for people and less demand on health services.

In early 2023, NCVS engaged with community organisations to understand why some communities (especially those from South Asian backgrounds) were not accessing NHS Talk Therapy services.
