Support for groups based in Broxtowe Borough
For many years, Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service (NCVS) has been supporting Nottingham’s community and voluntary groups in all sorts of different ways to strengthen and develop their work. We are pleased to announce that for a short term period we can provide a variety of free support to voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations based and delivering services in the geographical area of Broxtowe Borough.
This support is funded by Broxtowe Borough Council as part of its UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF) and is available from NCVS up to 31 March 2025.
Support from NCVS includes:
- A package of capacity and capability building sessions either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups based on your organisational needs. An initial business diagnosis will help us to identify your needs. These may include help with reviewing legal structures, identifying suitable funding opportunities, improving operational service delivery and much more. This support can be provided face to face or virtually.
- Access (at no cost to you) to a variety of training courses that NCVS delivers online to help you run your organisation and manage volunteers. There is usually a small charge for these training courses, but fully-funded places are available to Broxtowe groups.
View our core training and development programme. To reserve a free place on any of these scheduled courses, please contact Helen Oparinde (details below).
- In addition to the online delivery, we plan to deliver some training sessions in person at various venues across the Broxtowe area.
- You are also welcome to promote volunteer opportunities through our NCVS searchable database. Read more on our Looking for Volunteers page, where you can find a range of support for Leaders of Volunteers.
- Join Helen Oparinde and Dave Thomas (NCVS Volunteering Development Officer) at the next in-person Leaders of Volunteers Network (LoVN) Extra meeting. The event is being kindly hosted by Middle Street Resource Centre on Tuesday 18 February 2025, 11am to 1pm. Register here.
Broxtowe groups that are working with people facing multiple disadvantage will be invited to take part in the Practice Development Unit which hosts a range of free resources, training and e-learning on topics such as trauma informed care and psychologically informed environments.

Support from RCAN
RCAN (Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire) has recognised the need for rural communities to access additional support for their communities by providing community and social hubs. RCAN has received a grant through Broxtowe Borough Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), to create or revitalise 10 community facilities in the Borough of Broxtowe and inspire more social action in the towns and villages where those facilities are based.
This scheme is open to applications of interest, until March 2025, from organisations from any town or village in Broxtowe, whether you have a community facility or not.
Find out more on the RCAN website.
