Purpose of Role:
If you are a caring and empathic person who is passionate about helping support people in need and are looking for a volunteer role that you can commit to and that comes with; great role satisfaction, a comprehensive training and induction package, ongoing wellbeing support, opportunity for further development/experience and personal growth, then we want you on board as a Notts Victim Care Volunteer!
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Volunteers can support our service in various ways including working alongside our team; contacting victims of crime to assess their support needs and to offer our bespoke support where we work WITH the person to aid their recovery from the incident . Volunteers can also attend events to promote and raise awareness of the service, and contribute to service development. These are just some examples of ways you can be involved with our service. We will try to offer as much variety to volunteers as is possible throughout our service and will do our best to facilitate specific involvement requests.

We support victims of all ages, with all crime types, (Domestic and/or Sexual Violence are exceptions) whether the crime has been reported to the police or not and whether the crime is recent or historical. We also support those affected by crimes as well as the victims.
The role/s will be carried out from our small base and out in the community.

We wish to offer development to our volunteers with as much training, experience and skills as possible. We also have a comprehensive support network to ensure the wellbeing of volunteers is paramount.
The satisfaction that can be gained from supporting victims is immense. The positive feedback we receive from supported victims lets us know that our services are invaluable to Nottingham City and County, so by volunteering with us you will definitely make a difference to local people's lives.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
We would like our volunteers to:
have good communication skills
be confident on the telephone
be a good listener
be empathic and non-judgmental
be caring and considerate
have a desire to support people in need
have basic computer/admin skills
have passion and willingness to learn new skills
be able to commit to 3hrs a week for at least 12months
be able to travel to our base in Wollaton, Nottingham
