Purpose of Role:
Are you a "give it a go" or experienced gardener? We would love you to spend some time with us helping to keep our gardens in West Bridgford looking neat and tidy.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Me Time Nottingham run a community garden in Nottingham (West Bridgford) which gives people with learning disabilities the opportunity to gain gardening skills and manage the outdoor space. This is an important space for the people we support to get outdoors and interact with nature, and each other. Your time and skills as a Gardening Volunteer will make a big difference to these people enjoying this special space.

We are looking for gardening volunteers on a Tuesday.

As a volunteer, you wouldn't need to be an expert gardener, but you will need some gardening experience and be able to work independently to keep the garden tidy.

As a volunteer you could be doing some of the below:

• Pruning and cutting back shrubs
• Creating flower beds and vegetable patches
• Cutting the grass, weeding, and potting planters
• Having conversations around the next project with the people we support
• Supporting the people we support to gather ideas and create a lovely gardening space for everyone to enjoy

As a Gardening Volunteer you will be:

• Friendly and approachable
• Reliable, kind and patient
• A good communicator (including listener)
• Able to work alone and with others
• Willing to volunteer within guidelines and to take direction where necessary
• Accepting of others who might be different to yourself

As a Mencap volunteer you will:

• Make new friends
• Be paid agreed out of pocket expenses (eg. travel)
• Be given full training and support
• Volunteer alongside experienced care professionals
• Have a chance to give back to your local community
