Purpose of Role:
Are you one of Nottingham's movers and shakers? Juno needs a creative, resourceful and outgoing woman who is keen to build community engagement and development skills by supporting our Safer Accommodation Team - a busy team supporting homeless survivors.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The Networking Volunteer will help our Safer Accommodation Team source and collect the practical support and supplies required, enabling more capacity within a busy team supporting homeless survivors.

The volunteer will help support to the Safer Accommodation Team by building networks in order to source donations and supplies and keep up to date with support offered by local organisations.

Networking Volunteer
Located between Juno Offices – Local Community - Housing Solutions at Loxley House.
We would like a volunteer who can commit to 1 regular day a week / Minimum 3 hrs per shift, within core hours 10am - 4pm.
Car user required. It is required that the volunteer holds a full UK driving licence and has access to their own vehicle, as the role will require some travel within and around Nottingham to collect supplies and network with stakeholder organisations.

Role Summary
To provide support to the Safer Accommodation Team by building networks in order to source donations and supplies and keep up to date with support offered by local organisations.

The Safer Accommodation service is based at Housing Aid to co-work cases where someone presents as homeless as a result of domestic abuse. The team work to provide support to the survivor during the housing assessment, completing risk assessments, safety planning and advocating. The Networking Volunteer will help source and collect the practical support and supplies required, enabling more capacity within a busy team supporting homeless survivors.

This role would suit someone who:

• Is creative, resourceful and outgoing
• Has or is keen to build a good knowledge of Nottingham support services
• Is keen to build community engagement and development skills
• Is looking for experience in the sector and wants to develop skills towards employment
• Wants to work directly with survivors and has a good knowledge of domestic abuse.
• Is ready and able to listen to survivors experiences of abuse and recognises the personal impact it can have.
• Is able to commit to a regular weekly volunteering session (with flexibility around holidays and other commitments).

Responsibilities and Duties
The list below describes the main activities and tasks of the role but is not a finite list.

• Networking with local organisations to keep up to date with support offered and build relationships.
• Liaising with statutory and voluntary services to source donations and supplies required to meet the immediate needs of homeless survivors, for example food vouchers, mobile phones and credit, clothes, nappies.
• Travelling in and around Nottingham City in order to collect donations and supplies as needed.
• Updating case notes and keeping a record of all donations sourced and given.

General Duties
• Contribute effectively to team working and team meetings.
• Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to, in particular Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, Health and Safety, Data Protection.
• Undertake induction, internal and external training and ensure your knowledge is up to date.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
No experience necessary

Knowledge and Understanding:
Insight into issues for those who have experienced domestic abuse.
Understanding of safeguarding children and adults at risk.
Understanding of trauma and the impact it has on Survivors and Team Members.
Understanding of confidentiality.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to use initiative and follow instruction.
Ability to work in a team: friendly, approachable, enthusiastic.
Good verbal and written communication.
Empathetic and sensitive approach to working with survivors.
IT skills: email management, Microsoft office suite.
Ability to ask for help and support.
No qualifications necessary.
An enhanced DBS is required for this role.
The volunteer will need a full UK driving licence and has access to their own vehicle.
