Purpose of Role:
To promote Greenpeace campaigns with people across Nottinghamshire, and to connect people with Greenpeace and their values and mission
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The role covers wider Nottinghamshire. Regular meetings take place in person in Nottingham city with an option to join via Zoom. Events can take place across the county, as and when they are identified
We believe around 1 – 3 hours a month on average in terms of time commitment is a good guide.
• Attending events across your local area to speak to people about current Greenpeace campaigns and to connect people with our vision and mission to protect our planet
• Contacting local councillors and MPs to share and inform them about current campaigns and to look for backing and support
• Attending a meeting of local volunteers once a month to discuss plans and actions
• Keep up to date with Greenpeace’s latest campaign information and learn more about the work that Greenpeace does to protect the planet across the globe
• We have committed volunteer leaders who coordinate meetings and events and can help guide you on where support may be best placed
• Greenpeace UK offers training, webinars and resources (such as leaflets and small materials) for promotion, to help you connect with people at events
• Small expenses can be covered for certain activities, this can be discussed with volunteer leaders
What you could get out of it:
• Know you are working to protect and enrich our planet through an international campaigning organisation alongside thousands of others
• Connect with like-minded volunteers and learn more about the challenges facing our environment and what we can do to combat them
• Be the first to access campaign updates from Greenpeace UK and view other events from across the UK via their online website for volunteers Greenwire
• Build your communication skills by speaking to people at events and gain confidence by speaking to people about our work and it’s impact
• We often support a creative approach to connecting people with our campaigns, which includes designing posters, placards, outfits, digital media and creative writing, which volunteers will have the chance to put into action and learn from others.
