Purpose of Role:
As Solar Energy Contact, you’ll be supporting people in your county to take action for the benefit of the countryside and communities.
You’ll keep up to date with CPRE’s national solar energy campaigns and
actions, such as our petition calling on the government to unleash the potential of rooftop solar as part of our wider rooftop solar campaign

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
You’ll gather vital local knowledge and give our charity capacity to respond to deal with the pressing concerns of people living in our counties. You’ll help us to build stronger links to local communities, campaigns and organisations.
What you will be doing
Keeping up to date with proposed and existing solar development
proposals in your local area
Signposting people enquiring about how best to influence planning
proposals for the benefit of the countryside
Building knowledge and contacts with local and national campaigns /
activists
Providing your local CPRE group with relevant information relating to local
proposed development sites
Sharing information with other volunteers and attending meetings where
relevant
Liaising with parish and district councils and other conservation bodies
Liaising with national CPRE teams to contribute to consultations and
policy development where appropriate
Option to attend CPRE Rooftop Renewables Network Campaign Group
meetings

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The skills you need
An interest in the countryside and environmental issues
Previous experience in the planning sector and knowledge of the planning system is desirable but not essential
An eye for detail and an interest in investigative work
Happy carrying out tasks independently and as part of a team
Good written and verbal communication skills
Access to a computer and the internet at home and be comfortable using them
