ROLE DESCRIPTION:
To provide safe accommodation for young people who would otherwise be homeless. This should include a warm welcome, an evening meal, their own room with a bed for the night, as well as breakfast and access to a bath or shower.

Volunteer Hosts perform extraordinary service providing a place of safety and comfort in what is often a very distressing situation for the young person. Every young person is different, and that means that every placement is different too, with some young people wanting their own space after what will potentially have been a very difficult day, while others may value opening up and chatting to a Volunteer Host over an evening meal. This means that being a Volunteer Host ultimately means being welcoming and accepting of the young person where they are at.

We chat to hosts via WhatsApp to establish availability on a week-by-week basis, then arrange placements with you only on the days that you can do, arranging arrivals and departures at times that work for you.
We have a thorough risk assessment processes, ensuring that we aren’t putting our hosts at risk with the young people they are housing, and all relevant information is passed on to the host prior to a placement, e.g. relevant safeguarding issues, allergies etc.
