Purpose of Role:
Support Through Sport is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and organised individual who will work alongside an ambitious team to support the delivery of sport-based intervention sessions, typically within community settings. You will work within identified areas of engagement throughout Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to plan, deliver and develop sport based intervention programmes in accordance with Support Through Sport’s policies, procedures and guidelines.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
At Support Through Sport, we use a range of positive initiatives as diversion and intervention programmes to support young people whilst tackling negative influences such as knife crime, gang violence, youth offending and serious youth violence. Our work is focused on building brighter futures and creating safer communities, through the power of sport and youth work combined.
You will be supported to meet a benchmark of training and standards which includes:
First Aid Training
Managing Challenging Behaviour Training
Safeguarding Children and Young People Training
Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training
Level 2 Qualification in sport/community/health/social
Enhanced DBS Check
Work alongside a team of coaches to deliver sessions in an engaging way to motivate and enthuse the children and young people that attend.
Produce session plans for individual sessions considering relevant policies, barriers to participation and engagement with young people.
Foster good leadership and be a role model to others.
Evaluate all the sessions and provide feedback at session debriefs.
Resolve disputes and address challenging behaviour in a timely and appropriate manner.
Attend training and meetings as required by Support Through Sport.
Ensure all the sports equipment is in a good, safe condition.
To support outreach and engagement sessions where possible.
Attending community events - locally, regionally and nationally - to represent the organisation and its core aims and objectives.
Encourage all involved to have a healthy lifestyle and demonstrate how this contributes to their physical and mental wellbeing.
Attend any and all meetings which are relevant to your role.
Maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality with participants, staff, and volunteers.
Ensure an equal and inclusive approach to any and all activities.
Provide First Aid if and when required.
Acting as a community role model, representing the organisation professionally, proactively and positively.

Coaching experience
Direct youth work experience
Lived experience of negative influences
A full UK driving license
Good multi-sport abilities
