Purpose of Role:
The St Ann’s and Sneinton Food store aims to support vulnerable individuals, within the local community, by providing them with the essentials they need. Many families in the UK are living in difficult circumstances, especially due to the cost-of-living crisis. Food banks provide necessary community services to individuals in crisis. As a volunteer, you will help process food donations, sort items, ensure they are in date, reduce waste, and pack food parcels ready for distribution. You will also need to promote the Food bank, raise awareness and help finding donations. You will work with other volunteers and report to the foodbank manager.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
As a volunteer, you will:
Support the delivery of food Parcels to the public.
Receive food donations from individuals and business.
Sort donations into appropriate food groups, checking dates, and recording items.
Restocking of Food Bank supplies.
Making up of individual and family food parcels.
Distribution of food parcels to individuals and families.
Raising awareness of the Food bank and promoting donations through word of mouth and social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc).
Ensure that foodbank procedures and processes are followed.
Report any health & safety or safeguarding concerns to the foodbank manager.
Always keep the foodbank clean and tidy, checking for evidence of
pests and notifying the manager if there are any concerns.
Support with weekly cleaning and make the Food bank a welcoming place for our clients.
