How many places are on offer? 4
Purpose of Role:
To maintain and repair historic steam, diesel and petrol engines and other machinery and tractors.
To ensure that visitors can observe historic machinery in working condition.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Working with other volunteers to operate, lubricate, restore, maintain in working order and repair engines and machinery.
All items are exhibits that were manufactured and/or used within the Nottingham area. These include an 1858 beam engine, Reader, Robey, Rollinson, Tangye and Marshall steam engines. Fowler steam ploughing engines, Brush and Ruston diesel engines, Fordson and Marshall tractors and many other petrol engines.
In addition, we have other mechanical items to preserve and maintain.

Maintenance takes place limited hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The museum is open to the public 11:00 -16:00 Weekends and Bank Holidays with live running on the last Sunday of the month and for special events.

The museum is located in Wollaton, Nottingham.

Working with like-minded experienced engineers, full induction process, insurance cover, no minimum volunteering hours requirement. PPE available.
We have a carpentry and engineering workshops on site.

We offer the opportunity to preserve and operate historic engines and machines.
Learn new skills from experienced volunteers.
Meet the public and explain the artifacts use and history.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in mechanical engineering with steam, diesel or other large machinery. Awareness of health and safety regulations for large mechanical machines and installations.
Volunteers should be enthusiastic about preserving historic machines for future generations.
