Would you like to spend more time outdoors and meet new people? Feel like your well-being could do with a boost? Volunteer with us to help maintain the gardens and grow fruit and vegetables at Summerwood Community Gardens. No experience required just an interest and enthusiasm!
ROLE DESCRIPTION:

do with a boost?

We are looking for volunteers to help us look after the gardens at Summerwood Community Garden. While doing so you can experience the benefit of being amongst nature in supportive surroundings.

The role involves general gardening tasks including weeding, planting, watering, digging, pruning, harvesting among others. No experience required just an interest and enthusiasm. There are two sessions a week available on Wednesdays and Fridays 11am to 2pm. You can attend one or both. There is no obligation to attend every week.

Volunteering with us will help us keep our three plots maintained and grow fruit and vegetables for use at our various community activities. We also donate excess produce to local foodbanks. If you have DIY, building, art or cooking skills etc. there are opportunities to use these skills too.

The sessions are small group volunteering sessions with between 2 and 10 people per session. Sessions are run by a volunteer leader.

You will need to wear suitable clothing for garden work in the outdoors, all other equipment including gloves and tools will be supplied.

We are unable to offer one-one support for volunteers at the sessions but feel free to bring someone with you if needed.

We can reimburse bus or tram fares from Clifton or Nottingham City.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
No skills or experience needed just an interest and enthusiasm.

If you have DIY, building, art or cooking skills etc. there may be opportunities to use these skills, but they are not necessary for the role.

You can learn; general gardening skills, how to grow fruit and vegetables. You can also learn about no dig gardening techniques, pruning and propagation, wildlife gardening, organic gardening, water wise gardening.
