Purpose of Role:
Support the in-person delivery of Ignite!’s after-school programme for children aged 5-11, Creative Sparks.

At Creative Sparks, children take part in a wide range of creative activities, including arts, crafts, games, experiments, exhibitions and performances.

Children are supported to develop their confidence, self-belief, communication skills, have the opportunity to explore their own interests and build relationships with children from their local community throughout the sessions.

The volunteer will support the Ignite! staff team to run the sessions at Strelley Road Library.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
- Helping children to take part in creative activities, including helping the children to use equipment, come up with ideas for how they might respond to activities/challenges, taking part in games
- Helping children to express themselves, develop their confidence, communication skills and sense of self belief throughout the sessions
- Helping the Ignite! staff team to manage children’s engagement and behaviour - this may include working with specific children who need extra support, accompanying the children as they move around the library
- Work with groups of children within the main session (ie. supporting a smaller group if the children are split into groups to do activities)

Wednesdays in term time, 3.30 - 5pm at Strelley Road Library, Nottingham NG8 3BJ

In line with our Safeguarding Policy, we will require a DBS certificate for this role, which we can process at no cost to the volunteer.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience of and confidence in working with children aged 5-11
- Interest in developing children’s creativity, confidence and communication skills
- Creative, adaptable and enthusiastic
- Commitment to safeguarding children

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to supporting our sessions on a weekly basis as this enables the children to develop a relationship with the team and enhances the outcomes of the project.
