Purpose of Role:
Do you love Highfields Park as much as we do and want to help improve the park for both visitors and the wildlife? We are looking for volunteers who want to take pride in their local park and keep areas tidy and litter free, report issues, and work on different improvement projects throughout the park with our Park Ranger.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
As one of our Park Champions at Highfields Park you could be the eyes, ears and helping hands at this award winning park. We are looking for volunteers who take pride in their local area who can help keep areas tidy and litter free, report issues and work with our Park Ranger to improve the park.

We are looking for enthusiastic people who want to help us care for Highfields Park and want to make the space as inviting as possible to others. We know our parks and open spaces have been a lifeline to citizens during lockdown, ensuring they can get fresh air, exercise and have a place to relax and unwind.

Our sessions re held every Thursday and work is seasonal and weather dependant, although there will be opportunities to cover specific events and projects, including Bench Restoration workshops in the summer, Gardening in Japanese Garden and Cascades areas as well Conservation based volunteer sessions throughout the year;
1st Thursday of the month is Restoration tasks, meet at the Boathouse
2nd Thursday of the month is Gardening at the Japaense Gardens and Cascades, meet in the gardens
3rd Thursday of the month is the Tottle Brook Task Force, meet at the Boathouse
4th Thursday of the month is Conservation tasks, meet at the Boathouse

We need you to help us be the eyes and ears of the park and make them as inviting as possible to visitors so they can continue to enjoy our open spaces.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
What you will be doing:
Conservation based tasks (autumn/winter)
Gardening tasks around the park
Bench restoration (summer)
Surveying
Litter picking
Cleaning and updating notice boards

Motivation and enthusiasm
Good attention to detail
