Purpose of Role:
Show refugees and asylum seekers a warm welcome with a cup of tea, a hot lunch and a friendly chat.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The NNRF Café is a welcoming space for service users to have a cup of tea, hot lunch, and socialise. It is also used as the waiting area for general advice and individual appointments with NNRF staff members. Volunteers support our staff by making visitors and service users feel welcome and comfortable, offer refreshments and information. They also keep the Café tidy and clean, and cook lunch for about 50 people daily.
The key features of the volunteer role are food preparation, hospitality and general assistance, which are vital for preserving a positive image of NNRF amongst visitors and service users. Providing a warm, safe and welcoming space as well as hot drinks, snacks and hot lunch also helps offset the impact of ongoing cost of living increase, making the NNRF Community Café a vital service for refugees and asylum seekers in Nottingham.
Café Hosts' responsibilities include:
*Prepare and serve hot lunch for approx. 50 people daily
*Offer refreshments and manage refreshments stock
*Wash up cups & spoons, clean tables and keep the Café tidy
*Check toilets if there's enough paper & soap
*Manage children's corner (keeping it tidy)
*Maintain high food safety standards in the kitchen
When Required : Mondays - Fridays, 9am - 3pm (one day a week for a minimum of 4 months)

All volunteers will be inducted and expected to attend training in Food Safety (provided by NNRF).
In addition, we will organise in-house training on safeguarding, managing challenging behaviour, confidentiality & professional boundaries and other relevant topics. Volunteers are welcome to attend any additional training of their interest.
