Purpose of Role:
As a volunteer driver, you’ll be an essential part of the hospice team, responsible for collecting patients from their homes (in and around Nottinghamshire) and taking them to the Wellbeing Service located at Nottinghamshire Hospice on Woodborough Road. You will be required to see them safely into the hospice and collect them after their session, to take them back home.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
What you’ll be doing:
· Using your own car to pick up patients and take to Nottinghamshire Hospice for their appointment or activity session
· You will accompany patients with getting into and out of your vehicle and to and from the hospice.
· Be flexible with times, for example, if a patient is running late or a session finishes earlier than planned
· Be sensitive to the patient’s comfort whilst in your vehicle and throughout the journey
· Be confident to discuss any queries or concerns you may have about a patient with staff

What you’ll get from it:

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
You'll need to:
· Be aged between 21 and 65 years, in line with our hospice insurance cover
· Been driving for at least 3 years and have no more than 3 points on licence
· Ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy, with a valid MOT certificate and business insurance cover (proof of these documents will be required and a copy kept on file)
· Have a friendly and sensitive manner
· Have own car with 5 doors
· Have good communication skills and a cheerful personality
· Be sensitive to the needs of others (and have an awareness of boundaries)
· Be able to cope with emotional distress in a healthy manner
· Be willing to be part of a team and to be reliable and flexible
· Be discreet and able to maintain confidentiality
· Be able to use initiative
