You’ll be helping run a regular Code Dojo Session for children aged 7-17 years.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for volunteers to help at the Code Dojo at Nottingham Central Library. Too much structure and rigid organisation can stifle creativity. Most Dojos have a feel of organised chaos that’s an energetic blend of imagination, experimentation, and learner-led skill development. At a Dojo, attendees learn by working on projects in an informal atmosphere, talking amongst themselves, and collaborating. Chatting and making friends is encouraged.

When: Tuesdays, 4.30pm to 5.30pm

What you will be doing:

• Supporting on Code Dojo Session at Central Library
• Supporting children in Code Club projects such as Scratch, Python and HTML/CSS
• Assist with the set-up and clearing of the sessions each week
• Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to deliver the sessions and ensure cover for all sessions
• Comply fully with existing policies of Nottingham City Council
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The skills you need:

• Are a warm, friendly and patient individual
• Can relate to young children and their families and interact with them in a positive manner
• Have confidence in leading the sessions
• Have confidence using computers, you don’t need to be experienced in coding, but you need confidence in using computers and the ability to learn programs like Scratch
• Able to commit to 6 sessions

What's in it for you:

• Experience of working with children on a 1-1 and group basis in an informal environment
• If you’re new to coding this is a fun and practical way to develop your coding skills
• Great to add to your CV
