How many places are on offer?
Purpose of Role:
As a volunteer, you will support our experienced Health Care Professionals and Therapy Assistants to contribute to the individualised, holistic patient care provided.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
As a Wellbeing Volunteer, you will be joining the Therapy and Wellbeing Team to help support and organise a varied activity programme for patients who attend the service, offering a warm welcome within the Hospice and putting patients at ease.

Tasks may include:
• Setting up activities before the patients arrive
• Spending time on reception, answering the door to visitors and making them feel welcome
• Meet & Greet patients, helping them settle in for the session
• Housekeeping, including tidying up at the end of the session
• Working as part of a team to support patients during sessions
• Assisting in delivery of activities and entertainment
• Preparing sandwiches and hot or cold refreshments for patients
• Chatting to patients and carers who attend the Drop-in Café
• Feeding back to staff any updates or concerns with regards to individual patients or carers
Examples of group sessions are crafts, word puzzles, discussions, games and relaxation-based activities.

• Have good communication skills and be a good listener
• Be sensitive & attentive to the needs of others

• Be willing to be part of a team by being reliable, flexible and use initiative
• Be discreet and able to maintain boundaries and confidentiality – referring to your Line Manager with any concerns
• The ability to deal with busy sessions
• Be 18 years old or over
• Ability to share a hobby or skill with a group of patients is desirable but not essential. (Skills such as singing, craft, meditation, local knowledge, motivational talks…would be most welcome)
