ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Open Minds is a charity based in Nottingham. We are a small organisation with a simple aim, to reduce social isolation and loneliness amongst those with learning disabilities. Our main sessions are run twice a month on Saturdays, an art group and our 'out and about' session which includes going for trips and walks. Our other services include one-to-one sessions, workshops, a lunch club and zoom groups.
We fund our activities through the membership fees our members pay and charitable grants. A small team assists with running our activities, fundraising and admin.
The charity is governed by a board of trustees who meet every two months. Usually in the city centre on weekday evenings.
We are currently looking to expand our board of trustees. Being a trustee with Open Minds would mean attending a meetings every 2 months and contributing to the discussions and decisions that are made regarding the running of the charity. Prior experience is not necessary as full support and mentoring would be given. Open Minds welcomes applications from anyone who is willing to give up some of their free time in a voluntary capacity and feels they may have something to contribute e.g. life experiences, skills knowledge.
Open minds and equal opportunity organisation. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, marital/ relationship status or medical conditions.
In line with charity commission guidelines reasonable expenses such as travel will be reimbursed. Please note this is a voluntary role and not a paid position. Successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check which will be paid for by the charity.
Applicants will be contacted to arrange an interview.
