Purpose of Role:
Would you like to volunteer as part of an enthusiastic and committed team providing fun and engaging weekly sessions for young people in your community? We have vacancies for Youth Leaders across Nottinghamshire to support our cadet (11 to 17 years) and badger (5 to 10 years) programmes; encouraging young people to develop a range of skills and learn vital emergency first aid skills.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Being a Youth Leaders with St John Ambulance will mean you are playing a key part in helping and supporting young people in your community to develop essential life skills and learn vital emergency first aid skills.
Youth Leaders are responsible for organising and running all or part of a weekly session with other leaders. No prior experience is required since we will provide you with all the training you need (both virtually and face to face). All resources needed to deliver the sessions are made available.
A DBS check will be required since you'll be working with young people. We will also provide you with a uniform and reimburse reasonable out of pocket expenses. Youth Leaders are not expected to deliver first aid training to young people, although many of them choose to. We have a dedicated team of first aid trainers to support our Youth Leaders. We look for a regular commitment of 2 to 2½ hours per week, usually on a weekday evening albeit some training and activities take place at weekends. Ideally, once trained you will be willing to volunteer for at least a year. We have opportunities at several locations across Nottingham.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
No qualifications are required and knowledge of first aid is not needed. An interest in working with young people is essential along with a willingness to work as part of a team to provide fun, engaging and sessions and activities for young people.
