Purpose of Role:
Counsellors, therapists and counselling students unite! The Offload Project is a brand new community interest company offering low cost, long term counselling and psychotherapy to residents of Nottingham(shire). We're looking for volunteers to help us help Nottingham to feel great. Get in touch for more info.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The Offload Project is a brand spanking new community interest company offering low cost counselling and psychotherapy to residents of Nottingham(shire), alongside mental health training and workshops for individuals and teams. We know that mental health services are packed to the rafters at the moment. In 2020, Nottingham ranked in the top 10 cities for internet searches for counselling services. We believe that accessing mental health support shouldn’t feel like an obstacle course you’ve got to train for. So we want to make it easier for people.

To help us to achieve this, we’re looking for volunteers who hold a level 4 (minimum) counselling qualification, or are enrolled on a counselling course where placement hours form part of the essential curriculum. At the moment we’re working online and via telephone only (with a view to introduce optional face to face working in 2023), so you don’t even need to leave the comfort of your house.

You will be allocated clients based on your competencies, preferences and your availability. Clients will already have been risk assessed when they reach you, but you’ll need to stay on top of this throughout your time working with them.

Practically, your role will include
therapeutic contracting
ongoing risk assessment
reporting any safeguarding issues and responding in line with organisational policies
working in line with the BACP ethical framework
keeping concise notes
conducting intermittent reviews with clients
attending monthly support meetings with your manager
If you’re a counsellor on placement, you’ll also need to make sure that you’re keeping track of your clinical hours ready for placement sign off.
