Purpose of Role:
To bring expertise and experience of sound financial management to Growing Forward, which is a small but ambitious Community Interest Company supporting people with an innovative programme of support including counselling, social and therapeutic horticulture and yoga.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The role of Treasurer is to help shape Growing Forward’s strategic direction as well as ensure that it maintains a sound financial state and operates within the law and Growing Forward’s policies and procedures.

This is a “hands-on” role and will require an understanding of accounting and book keeping. The Treasurer oversees and presents budgets, accounts and financial statements to the Board every six weeks. The Board of Directors are all volunteers. There is a requirement to attend the AGM and very occasional planning/strategy meetings.

At the moment, this role is home based with online meetings, but we are moving towards face-to-face meetings and delivery sessions.

You will receive excellent support from the Growing Forward board members as well as from voluntary and community sector networks.

We are not yet able to meet volunteers’ expenses currently, but we hope to be able to do so in the future when funding permits

Growing Forward support is based on social and therapeutic horticultural activities for people with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, loneliness and isolation. Your skills will help Growing Forward to provide more and better support and you will have the satisfaction of being part of this. We hope you would also spend some time in the gardens where we operate, you are welcome.

We would require you to present the accounts to Community Accounting + before the end of the tax year.
