STAA at St Ann's Allotments
Location(s): St Ann's
Address where volunteering takes place: St Ann's Allotments Ransom Road Nottingham NG3 3LH
How many places are on offer? Several
Purpose of Role:
STAA promotes the fascinating heritage of the St Ann's Allotments gardens from their Victorian use through to modern day, including stories of fame and scandal! Volunteers can support or lead our heritage tours, and will be given full information, training and support.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
STAA loves telling wide-ranging audiences about the fascinating history of St Ann's allotments.
Volunteers are trained with all the information they need to be either a lead or support volunteer, delivering our fascinating heritage tour to members of the public and local groups.
Our tours are typically 90 minutes long, and tour STAA's projects and some of the avenues of St Ann's allotments with 'stop points' for heritage facts and stories.
We have some regular tour slots (usually Wednesday afternoons) but offer more times alongside volunteer availability - so we can work around you!
You will receive full training, including shadowing an experienced volunteer or member of staff.
We would ask volunteers to expect to commit to a minimum of a year for this role.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIREMENTS
The role benefits from a bit of commitment, so we suggest a minimum of 1 year to really engage with the role. However, the role is flexible to your availability and will be managed within a group of volunteers and a big diary. Tours are usually in the daytime, but also sometimes evenings and weekends.
This role is ideal for those with an interest in history/heritage or would like experience of delivering public events and public speaking.

We will provide you with all the information you need!

YOU WILL GAIN
- vast experience of delivering activities and events
- shadowing of skilled and experienced heritage communicators
- an insight into event management/community engagement
