Purpose of Role:
Our parks and open spaces have many benefits for citizens, but we need to make sure we are also doing our bit for the different species that live here. It’s not only the birds and the bees but bluebells, beetles and badgers (other species are available) that call Nottingham home and we want you to help us care for these special areas of habitat to continue making Nottingham greener.

This opportunity is based around various nature reserves and wildlife sites across the city
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
We need your help to create and manage great spaces for wildlife.

As one of our Conservation Volunteers you will be working closely with our Ranger Team to create and maintain different habitats across our parks and open spaces for wildlife. There are a wide range of activities and tasks throughout the year depending on the season, summer tasks can include controlling invasive species such as Himalayan Balsam, planting or cutting wildflower meadows to make hay and in winter tasks can include hedge planting, coppicing trees. Other tasks can include maintaining furniture such as benches, fences and information points. Our parks and open spaces have been a lifeline to residents during lockdown, to get out of their homes, exercise and enjoy the benefits that being in nature has for health and wellbeing.

This opportunity is based around various nature reserves and wildlife sites across the city (depending on seasonal need) but we hold regular sessions at;
Colwick Country Park on the first Thursday of each month
Broxtowe Country Park on the second Tuesday of each month
Sellers Wood Nature Reserve on the second Thursday of each month
Beeston Sidings Nature Reserve on the third Wednesday of each month
