This session was delivered as a webinar via Teams on Thursday 14 November 2024

Neurodivergence is a form of multiple disadvantage, and the intersection of the two is complex.

We began our Understanding Neurodivergence and Multiple Disadvantage learning series with an introductory talk designed to raise awareness of this topic and provide a baseline understanding needed to engage in future sessions.

Delivered by Caitlin Brooks, Senior Social Worker within Framework’s Street Outreach Service, this session sought to provide clarity on the term neurodivergence and shared insights into why neurodivergence is increasingly considered a form of multiple disadvantage.

Caitlin explained why neurodivergent affirmative approaches are crucial for effective support and intervention when working with people who experience severe and multiple disadvantage (SMD). There were opportunities for attendees to ask questions and share reflections on this topic.
