Our sixth session in this series will be led by Anna Tickle, Clinical Psychologist from Framework who led the development of the Learning Disabilities and Homelessness Toolkit and Emily Hill, Trainee Psychologist from Framework.
During this webinar we will examine the different learning disabilities criteria, how learning disabilities may present and the reasonable adjustments people can make.
We will also go through the Homelessness Toolkit which was developed to improve knowledge and understanding for those working in services to be able to recognise when someone may have a learning disability and how reasonable adjustments can be made to support with communication needs, daily activities and developing social and practical skills.
The toolkit is a starting point to enable good working practices in supporting people with learning disabilities as well as signposting to further information and resources.
Who can attend?
This session is part of our Understanding Neurodivergence and Multiple Disadvantage learning series.
These sessions will be most relevant to individuals who work with people impacted by trauma, abuse, addiction, homelessness, and/or individuals who experience poor mental health/ have contact with the criminal justice system.
We welcome individuals from a variety of roles, agencies, sectors, who have an interest in this subject.
Presenters:
- Anna Tickle is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist working in Nottingham Recovery Network and Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham. Prior to working in homelessness and substance use services, she worked in both inpatient and community services for adults with learning disability. She is keen to raise awareness of the overlap between learning disabilities and severe and multiple disadvantage as part of supporting the development of psychologically-informed environments. She led the development of the Learning Disabilities and Homelessness Toolkit.
- Emily Hill is a first year Trainee Clinical Psychologist currently completing a placement in Nottingham Recovery Network. Prior to training, Emily worked in community services for adults with learning disabilities and in older adult inpatient settings, where patients with various presentations and learning abilities were supported.
