The deadline for expressions of interest (EOIs) is Wednesday 7 May 2025, 5pm
National and local data reveal that young Black men are disproportionately affected by mental health issues yet face barriers to early intervention and culturally appropriate care.
Key Issues:
- Higher risk of severe mental illness
- Disproportionate detention rates
- Regional disparities
These findings highlight the urgent need for targeted, culturally sensitive approaches to improve early access to mental health support and reduce escalating interventions for young Black men in Nottingham.
Nottingham City Place-Based Partnership, in collaboration with NCVS, is looking for up to six Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) groups to apply for funding of up to £750 per organisation to support this project further.
The focus will be on engaging with young Black men (aged 17 to 25 years), exploring mental health issues, identifying current barriers to accessing services and/or early interventions, and assessing the effectiveness of existing services. Successful applicants will be expected to deliver activities that engage young Black men in meaningful conversations about mental health, early intervention support, and gather insights that will inform service improvements. You will need to provide a report of your findings.
A Project Information session will be held on Wednesday 23 April 2025, email the team for a booking link.
