The National Lottery UK Fund

There is no deadline

The UK Fund offers substantial funding for existing projects that bring diverse communities together. They now support initiatives that empower children and young people to use their voices to influence change. UK-based charitable organisations can apply for grants ranging from £500,000 to £5 million, covering two to ten years of activity. The fund expects to support around 20 organisations annually.

This fund is intended to amplify the impact of ongoing work, so they will not fund brand new initiatives or projects focused primarily on service delivery.

All projects must:

  • Benefit communities across the UK, either by operating in multiple locations or by sharing learning across different regions.
  • Scale up their impact by expanding their reach or deepening their work with existing participants.
  • Support people experiencing poverty, disadvantage, and discrimination.
  • Contribute to significant changes in services or systems that affect people’s daily lives.

Additionally, projects should meet at least one of the following aims:

  • Improve relationships between people with different life experiences.
  • Facilitate meaningful online connections for those who struggle to meet face-to-face.
  • Enable people from all backgrounds to influence the future of their communities.
  • Empower children and young people facing specific challenges to change the systems that affect them.
  • Encourage more organisations to involve and listen to children and young people.

You are more likely to secure funding if your project aligns closely with one of these specific aims, as the funder is unlikely to support projects that spread efforts too thinly across multiple objectives.
