An award scheme from UK-registered charity UnLtd is providing funding and tailored support to social entrepreneurs, to help them grow their social venture and become social leaders. Successful applicants will be given a dedicated support manager, expert mentors and pro bono support as well as access to workshops and learning. The main areas of focus are healthy ageing and access to employment.
Funding is available for those:
- That are starting up - Grants of up to £8,000 are available for those with an idea, have started to make a difference in people's lives, your community, or have ambitions to create change at a national level.
- That are scaling up - Grants of up to £18,000 are available for those who are already running a social venture that is making a positive difference and who have compelling evidence of their impact.
Social entrepreneurs
- Must be:
- 16 years and over.
- Living in the UK.
- The founder of the social venture.
- Can't be:
- Looking for one-off support for a short term project.
- Looking for funding for their individual needs e.g. travel or qualifications.
- Individuals who plan to employ others to undertake most of the work on their behalf.
Social ventures
- Must:
- Have the potential to be a financially sustainable social venture or real prospects to grow with their support.
- Demonstrate a clear need for your idea.
- Be clearly driven by its social purpose.
- Need financial backing to be successful.
- Can't
- Have a predominant focus outside the UK.
- Have been incorporated for over four years.
- Have an annual turnover of over £250,000.
- Involve political or religious campaigning.
- Involve activities outside the law.
- Have a predominant focus on raising awareness of social issues.
