The Bramley Fund

The deadline for applications is Wednesday 12 February 2025

The Bramley cooking apple was first seeded in Southwell by Mary Ann Brailsford in 1809. A local nurseryman, Henry Merryweather, 17 years old, saw its potential and cultivated the Bramley apple from cuttings. The Bramley Fund is championed by the great-grandson of Henry Merryweather, Roger.

Community groups and local charities can apply for a grant of up to £100 to plant up to four trees in their garden. Successful applications will receive details of the recommended supplier and information on how to look after your apple trees. The funder recommends the trees be purchased and planted in the spring.

Applications are to be made through the Nottinghamshire Community Foundation website.
