COVID-19 Survivors Group set-up by Self Help UK

Self Help UK has launched a new peer support service for survivors of COVID-19. The new COVID-19 Survivors Group UK is open to all those across the country who have had the virus.

Jarrod Skervin, Project Development Manager at Self Help UK, said, "As the virus is so new, we are only just beginning to understand some of the long term implications it can have on the physical and mental wellbeing of its survivors. At Self Help UK we know that talking to others who have had similar experiences is essential in addressing some of the worries and concerns that will naturally be felt by many people who have survived COVID-19, whether they have recovered at home and are still having symptoms or are struggling with the trauma of being in intensive care.

"Self Help UK is asking survivors to come forward to share their experiences with each other and begin to learn, grow and heal. The aim is that the group will be molded by its members, so we are really keen to hear your voices and your experiences."

The service is initially being established and run via a Facebook group. However, the charity is keen to find out if survivors would like to join a more structured online support group, on a platform like Zoom, and if they would be interested in receiving regular updates from health professionals or would like to undertake training/webinar opportunities.

If you would like to find out more about the group, please visit the COVID-19 Survivors Group UK web page. You can also call 0115 911 1662 or email outreach@selfhelp.org.uk
