This fund closed to applications on Wednesday 20 March 2024, 1pm.
People’s Health Trust has a grant fund of between £20,000 and £40,000 available for organisations looking to improve their community’s well-being through nature-based activities. Organisations must be able to match at least 25% of the requested amount, with the funded project lasting for two years. The grant can be used to fund running costs, events, venue hire, small capital items, etc.
Successful organisations must:
- Have an income of less than £1 million within the last year or on average over the last three years. Organisations with annual incomes higher than £1 million are unlikely to be funded but may be considered in exceptional circumstances, for example, where the most recent year’s income was higher than usual due to a capital project. If this is the case, you must speak to People's Health Trust before applying.
- Involve local communities in the development and running of nature-based activities, and demonstrate this involvement.
- Have a focus on working with people who:
- Are experiencing mental health problems.
- Are experiencing socio-economic disadvantage.
- Are experiencing marginalisation and discrimination.
- Or are otherwise less likely to access support.
- Work in a place that is ranked among the top 30% of areas of disadvantage (check eligibility here.)
- Have a clear track record and evidence of supporting access to natural spaces and/or providing mental health support.
- Are fully committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Can evidence need for the project.
- Can measure against People’s Health Trust outcomes.
Most voluntary sector organisations will be funded. A full list of eligible organisation types can be found here. Partnerships will also be considered where this will bring together specialist organisations, for instance, a mental health charity in partnership with a nature-based activity provider (a partnership agreement must be in place).
