Sir Jules Thorn Charitable Trust has a long track record of supporting capital investment to improve services or facilities for people living with serious long-term or life-limiting conditions. Following a strategic review, the Innovation and Improvement in Health and Care Fund was launched in 2022 to support the development of new models of health and care and the integration of health and care services.
Funding of typically between £150,000 and £500,000 is available for registered and and exempt charities and NH organisations with a primary activities must focus on health and care delivery/improvement.
This grant programme supports the growth of innovative health and care models to improve outcomes for people with serious long-term or life-limiting conditions. Applications can focus on physical or mental health, disabilities, or end-of-life care.
The Trust seeks tested models that can be scaled or replicated by other organizations and have a clear plan for securing long-term funding beyond the Trust's support period.
Applications must show strong evidence that the model is effective and will deliver significant outcomes within two years of receiving the grant.
The Trust will not fund small changes in one location or provide ongoing funding for existing services, regardless of their value.
Applicants must have an annual income of at least £10 million, based on recent audited financial statements. For partnerships, the combined income must meet the £10 million threshold. Charities must have been registered for at least five years, and exempt charities must have existed for at least five years.
