Cycling UK has opened applications for its Big Bike Revival Fund, an intervention aimed at getting more adults involved in cycling. Organisations can apply for up to £3,500 in funding to deliver free community events and activities that motivate adults to start or return to cycling. Events should be social and inclusive, encouraging adults of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to discover the joys of cycling and promoting cycling as a normal mode of transportation. Charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), other non-profits, community groups, independent cycling organisations and freelance workers are welcome to apply.
Successful applicants will deliver programmes based on Cycling UK's FIX-LEARN-RIDE model:
- Fix events - offer basic repair and safety checks for bikes.
- Learn to ride events - offer instruction and training on how to ride a bike safely.
- Learn to fix events - offer instruction on skills for adults to learn to maintain or repair their bike.
- Led ride events - offer led ides for adults around their local area.
Cycling UK recommend applicants read the FAQs and all guidance before making an application. Alternatively, applicants can contact one of the area teams for assistance. The team member for the East Midlands is Laura Baker, who can be contacted at lauren.baker@cyclinguk.org, the Big Bike Revival team can also be contacted at bigbikerevival@cyclinguk.org.
