Asylum Dispersal Fund

The deadline for applications is Monday 31 March 2025

The Asylum Seeker Dispersal Grant Programme, funded by Central Government, supports asylum seekers placed in Nottingham as part of the Asylum Seeker Dispersal Scheme. Nottingham City Council’s Migration Team utilises this grant to help asylum seekers integrate into local communities, fostering a welcoming and cohesive environment where they feel safe and supported.

It includes two 12-month specialist grants for:

  • ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) – £50,000
  • Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) – £100,000

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Grant

Nottingham City Council recognises the vital role of English language proficiency in enabling asylum seekers and newly recognised refugees to actively participate in their communities. The ESOL grant provides funding to organisations delivering accessible, high-quality English language support, empowering individuals to develop essential communication skills. These skills enhance their ability to navigate daily life, access essential services, and pursue education or employment.

The grant encourages organisations to implement innovative and inclusive teaching methods, ensuring that learners from all backgrounds and abilities can progress effectively. This initiative aligns with Nottingham’s commitment to integration and inclusivity, ensuring that language serves as a tool for opportunity rather than a barrier.

IAG (Information, Advice, and Guidance) Grant

The Advice and Support Grant funds the delivery of specialised support, information, advice, and guidance for asylum seekers and newly recognised refugees living in Nottingham. This grant will be awarded to an organisation with proven experience in supporting asylum seekers and refugees.

The grant aims to ensure that asylum seekers have access to essential support services, including:

  • Employment guidance to improve job prospects.
  • Housing assistance to ensure safe and suitable accommodation.
  • Support with asylum applications and appeals.
  • Access to benefits and state support to improve stability and well-being.
