Addressing the Barriers to Volunteering

Identify barriers to volunteering and develop ideas to minimise and remove them during this training, to ensure your organisation isn’t missing out on great volunteers. Cost: £10 per participant

Who is this training for?

If you’re new to working with volunteers, or a more experienced leader looking for a refresher and wanting to improve or gain new ideas for your volunteer management processes, this training is for you.

What will I learn from this training?

This training will help you identify groups of potential volunteers who you could be more effective at reaching and help your volunteering programme deliver on your organisation's diversity and inclusion policies.

It’ll help you tackle barriers to volunteering, such as language, time commitments, care, transport, disability, mental health, age and more, that prevent volunteers from joining your organisation.

During this training, you’ll explore:

  • Why barriers are concerning
  • The definition of barriers to volunteering
  • The impact of barriers
  • How to break down barriers
  • Addressing specific barriers
  • Unsurmountable barriers

Overcoming these barriers will give your volunteers and organisation a more rewarding, fulfilling, and effective volunteering experience.

Who will be delivering this training?

Dave Thomas, Volunteering Development Officer at Nottingham CVS, who has almost 50 years’ experience as a Leader of Volunteers.

How will this training be delivered?

This training will be delivered online via Zoom. It’ll be interactive and may use various tools and training methods, which the trainer will support you with using.
