PDU Employability and Skills Community of Practice

Registration is closed for this event
Our Employability and Skills CoP is an online forum for professionals, volunteers and people with lived experience of severe and multiple disadvantage (SMD) who are passionate about employability, skills led recovery and resettlement, or new to this area and curious to learn more.

This is a special Community of Practice meeting from 10am to 12 noon. All our sessions are online and are facilitated via Zoom.

This session takes place on Wednesday 10 July 2024.

Our theme this time is Neurodiversity and Employability:

Join us for a special Community of Practice (CoP) hosted by the PDU Employability and Skills CoP but relevant to our Working with Neurodivergent Adults CoP. In this combined session we will consider employability in the context of neurodiversity.  Phil Bilzon from Autistic Nottingham will be a guest presenter, highlighting some of the issues around Employability for Neurodiverse individuals and how we can better assist individuals who are neurodivergent to access employment opportunities and thrive within the workplace.

The session offers our members a chance to learn about neurodiversity, employability and SMD in a supportive, peer led environment, with the opportunity to share lived and learned experience, network, discuss challenges and ask questions.

Intended audience

The Employability and Skills CoP is aimed at any professionals and volunteers who see the benefits of employability and would like to do more in their roles. It is most appropriate for those in frontline service provision across sectors, including housing, recovery, mental health, primary care, domestic abuse, and SMD services, among others.

The Working With Neurodiverse Adults CoP is open to anyone with an interest in, or passion for, understanding neurodiversity, and who has a commitment to improving the way that services are designed and delivered so they are more inclusive of individuals who are neurodivergent.

We welcome people with lived experience of SMD and/or neurological differences to join this CoP, as well as professionals and volunteers across sectors.

Ongoing attendance:
To promote continuity and to gain maximum learning we encourage participants to attend all sessions of this CoP, or to nominate a colleague to attend on your behalf.
