We're excited to introduce you to the newest member of the NCVS team. If you've contacted us recently, some of you may have spotted her name already.
Welcome Jess!

Hello, I’m Jess Allen, and I joined the NCVS team as Information & Administration Assistant at the end of October 2022. The past six weeks have flown by, and as I begin to meet more of you within Nottingham’s brilliant VCSE sector, we thought it’d be a great time to introduce myself properly.
I’ll often be the person at the end of the phone and on the other side of our NCVS inbox, so if you have an enquiry, I’ll do my best to help you or point you in the direction of the best person in our team who can.
I’m also working closely with our Communications and Data Officer, Nicki Hastie, across our website and database. Working behind the scenes, I’ll be making sure that our busy jobs page, events and training programme, and volunteer centre are running smoothly, so you can easily engage in these activities online.
Going forward, I’ll be supporting different projects and services within NCVS, so you might see my name pop up from time to time in other places, too.
Over the past few years, I’ve volunteered for several organisations, including First Steps ED in Derbyshire, Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire, and the Canal & River Trust. I used the NCVS website to find my volunteer role at Age UK and, through this, I was referred by a Social Prescribing Link Worker to the Waterways & Wellbeing Programme at the Canal & River Trust – my first encounter with the GreenSpace project. I loved it so much, I jumped at the opportunity to later volunteer for the programme as well.
These experiences were integral in helping me through a difficult time in my life, and gave me the support, experience, confidence, and skills to begin my first paid role in the VCSE sector with Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire.
Now, I’m very proud to be part of NCVS and to be working in a role that supports all of Nottingham’s incredible VCSE organisations, so everyone can access the help they need and deserve.
Thank you for everything you do, and I really look forward to meeting and working with some of you in the future!
