An integral part of Nottingham's Black History month celebrations the event will take place on Saturday 15 October 2022 7pm -1am at the East Midland Conference Centre. NCVS is at the heart of Nottingham’s voluntary sector, and prides itself on keeping the voluntary sector connected to issues affecting it.

NCVS is currently leading the GreenSpace Green Social Prescribing Test and Learn Programme in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. We are seeking an experienced project manager to explore the learning from the GreenSpace programme, creating opportunities to embed the learning into broader social prescribing activity across the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS).

This work will support the ICS to deliver its Personalised Care vision to maximise independence, choice, control, good health, and wellbeing throughout people’s lives, focusing on ‘what matters to them’.

Fixed term post for 2 years

Hours 35 hours (fulltime) or 28 hours per week

Salary : £32,000 per annum pro rata

Location : hybrid working-home based and NCVS office at Loxley House NG2 3NG

Charities and not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply to the latest tranche of Asda Foundation’s Cost of Living Grant. The group must have a presence in and benefit the local community, but there is no minimum timescale for how long the group must have been in existence. The grants are only eligible for groups operating inside the UK, and it is not able to support animal not-for-profits, grant making organisations or individuals. It can be used for support with rent and utility bills or food costs support.

Grants of up to £2,000 are available to help organisations support those in crisis.
Following the impact of the pandemic on income and employment and the continuing increase in cost of living, people are finding it harder to make ends meet and low income households are having to choose between food and fuel. These small grants are available to help organisations provide the much needed support that low income families need. As well as the immediate need for support with food and fuel, they appreciate that there has also been an impact on mental health as a result of the pandemic and more people are isolated.

The types of projects they hope to fund are:

• Food Poverty projects 
• Information, Advice & Guidance projects 
• Social groups 
• Projects supporting the homeless
• Or any other project which would benefit those in crisis

Decisions will be made regularly as applications are received and until this year’s allocation of funding has been committed. 

Youth Endowment Fund’s Peer Action Collective project, StreetGames have secured £30,000 to distribute to local organisations who:

• Have a strong reach to young people aged 10-14 years, living in low-income, underserved communities
• Have experience empowering young people to design, lead and review social action activities
• Have positive mentors within their organisation who can inspire, empower and support young people to be positive activists for change  

You are invited to apply for up £750 per social action project. A single organisation can support a maximum of three different cohorts of young people, to deliver three separate social action projects. The organisation will thus receive £2250 (3 x £750). 

Note: StreetGames will only accept applications which have been designed by young people

Organisations can make applications on behalf of their cohort(s) of young people using the form. This should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete

They will review applications every Friday morning with organisations being made aware of the status of their application promptly.

Organisations and young people must have started their social action project by 31st October 2022; however, delivery can continue until 2nd December 2022.

Green social prescribing is a way of connecting people to nature-based activities and green groups, projects and schemes in their local community for support with health and wellbeing. Often this will be through a referral from a Link Worker based at a GP practice or another primary care professional.

Our scheme in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, called GreenSpace, is one of seven government Green Social Prescribing Test and Learn sites. It's all about improving people’s mental health. Green providers, social prescribers, voluntary organisations and community initiatives will help connect many more people with nature-based activities, helping everyone to feel better.

Nottingham City Mental Health Collaborative invites you to hear about plans for promoting better mental wellbeing across the City. You will also have a chance to visit the market place to meet various organisations and take advantage of networking opportunities. We will run a number of workshops where attendees will be invited to help shape future actions. Finally we would be delighted if you joined us for lunch (please note - vegetarian, Gluten and Dairy free options available).

The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Suicide Prevention Stakeholder Network will be responsible for influencing the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Suicide Prevention Strategy Group’s Action Plan and support work to raise awareness by informing and influencing everyone in Nottinghamshire to respond to suicide, self-harm and mental ill health appropriately so that people get the right support at the right time.

Thriving Communities is a national support programme for voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise groups, supporting communities in England, working alongside social prescribing link workers.

The monthly information sessions of the learning together programme will help you understand what the NHS is doing to develop Social Prescribing and how your work is part of Social Prescribing.
