We are on the move again.

You may remember in November of last year we moved to temporary accommodation on King Street, just off Market Square. In the meantime we have searched extensively in the city centre to find a suitable location.

During our search we became aware that Loxley House (Nottingham City Council headquarters) had changed its operating model and is now available to hire out to other organisations in the city. From 1 September we will be hiring desk space on the 4th floor as a voluntary sector tenant. 

Like many of us the city council’s staff have remained largely working from home which has opened up the opportunity for other organisations to access a modern office space in a convenient city centre location. It has great transport links, is fully accessible and offers meeting and training rooms for us to hold in person meetings and events. It will be easier for us to have visitors at Loxley House, but we are not able to offer a drop in service like we did previously at Mansfield Road.

We are looking for an organised and skilled person to help us achieve a high level of customer service. If you are keen to understand the operations of a busy charity and you recognise how organised systems help to build relationships and improve efficiency, this role is for you.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of office administration and the ability to learn processes quickly. You will have experience of using databases and CRM systems, with an advantage in experience of CiviCRM (not essential). We require a detail-oriented individual and skilled communicator, eager to work collaboratively with a team of staff and volunteers in a rapidly changing environment.

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

We are aware that some groups and organisations which rent or own premises are seeing a large increase in their energy bills.

If your group/organisation supports people in Nottingham City, NCVS would like to hear your experience of rising costs and how this is affecting your services. We know that many of you are already seeing increased service user demand due to the overall financial crisis.

Through this short anonymous survey, NCVS is seeking local evidence to assist us in raising awareness of the growing financial pressures. This collective evidence will help us to:

• ask local and national funders how they intend to respond to support rising costs;
• back up campaign work alongside other local and national infrastructure organisations;
• lobby central government.

Support for the delivery of new and renewed youth facilities from Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). The fund seeks to provide 300 youth facilities that represent positive value for money; are environmentally sustainable; and enable positive activities for young people.

Nottinghamshire Community Foundation administers a number of grants programmes targeted to grassroots community groups and social enterprises to support the people that need help most. Each of these have differing themes, criteria and available amounts.

Grant of up to £10,250 to a limited number of eligible voluntary sector organisations over the next three years in Nottingham. The funding is to enable organisations to licence and deliver the DofE, with the aim of enabling more young people to access the award.  

Green social prescribing is a way of connecting people to nature-based activities and green groups, projects and schemes in their local community for support with health and wellbeing. Often this will be through a referral from a Link Worker based at a GP practice or another primary care professional.

Our scheme in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, called GreenSpace, is one of seven government Green Social Prescribing Test and Learn sites. It's all about improving people’s mental health. Green providers, social prescribers, voluntary organisations and community initiatives will help connect many more people with nature-based activities, helping everyone to feel better.

Every Tuesday and Thursday between 6 September and 29 September 2022, Harmless will be hosting a live online webinar session (10-11am) with an expert in the field of suicide bereavement. This unique CPD-accredited conference will be held online over 8 short sessions to allow you to join in flexibly at however many sessions you'd like. They will also be recording each session with their expert speakers and these will be made accessible to all booked delegates from September on the Harmless e-portal.

This 2-hour free Zoom training session will cover more about gambling-related harm, risk factors, impacts, and how to identify and support people affected. Learn about GamCare's treatment network and how to refer clients to treatment services. This training is essential for any professionals or volunteers who work with women and families.

Inspiring Connections is run by Catch22, as a personal and professional development programme enabling individuals aged 18+ to gain the momentum they need to take the next steps towards their career goals. Many people have huge potential but have lacked the opportunities and support to achieve their goals.

The Inspiring Connections programme works by bringing Candidates (people with barriers to work) together with Advocates - a range of professionals and business owners, willing to support them on their journey. By the end of the programme, Candidates report an increase in confidence, motivation, career direction, professional networks and an awareness of action steps they need to take.

The GSK IMPACT Awards provide core funding and free training for charities doing excellent work to improve people’s health and wellbeing. Up to 15 awards will be made, ranging from £4,000 to £50,000, plus free training and development valued at a further £9,500. The British Red Cross (BRC) currently holds a contract with NHS England (NHSE) to deliver seasonal surge capacity and support to areas where the NHS is experiencing high demand. The aim of the contract is to provide surge capacity to support Pathway 0 patient flow through hospital discharge and community wrap around support. The British Red Cross are seeking experienced providers to join their seasonal surge provider call-off framework in readiness for the coming winter.

• Assisted Discharge – Reducing hospital length of stay by supporting people who are medically fit to get home quickly and safely, including provision of transport home and settle-in at home services
• Community Wrap Around Support - Reducing avoidable readmissions through provision of community-based support services for up to four weeks, including support to reduce deterioration for individuals who are considered vulnerable
