Work is progressing on our partnership Community Assets Assessment Project. We've been busy identifying and recently inviting key community partners in known designated hot spots affected by serious violence, across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, to take part in online participation events.

The aim of these invite-only events is to help us to better understand the underlying issues and causes of serious violence in local communities and to explore the community assets available within communities which tackle or help to reduce the risk of serious violence (i.e. weapon enabled crime, actual or grievous bodily harm and domestic abuse).

Civil society leaders are once again calling on the Government to develop an emergency support package for the not-for-profit, charity and social enterprise sector.

Ahead of the Government’s Budget statement in March, charity leaders are urging Rishi Sunak to urgently work with them to develop a package of financial support for #NeverMoreNeeded non-profit organisations.

Nottingham Women's Centre is offering small grants, of up to £100, to non-profit women's or LGBT+ organisations in Nottingham who are planning to hold a virtual event or activity to mark LGBT+ History Month (February) or International Women's Day 2021 (8 March).

People’s Health Trust’s Active Communities Funding Programme is closing for applications in Nottingham at 1pm on Wednesday (3 February 2021).

Active Communities is a funding programme for not-for-profit groups with an income of less than £350,000 a year, seeking investment of between £5,000 and £40,000 for projects lasting up to two years.

The network is free to join and is open to anyone with an interest in managing, supporting or leading volunteers in Nottingham.

The next online meeting is Wednesday 10 February, 10am-12noon, via Zoom.

This session will explore how your support can be improved in the new world of volunteering and will include an opportunity for you to shape the training and support offered to Leaders of Volunteers in Nottingham during and beyond the Coronavirus pandemic. Please come along and share your views, ideas and suggestions for how volunteers and volunteering can be supported in the future. For the first time in one of our online networking sessions, we will work in small groups to give you plenty of time to have your say.

A two-part online course giving a basic understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead Person. You are required to attend both sessions. 

Participants will need to have completed Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults training (with any provider) before attending this session.

Part 2 - Thursday 18 February 2021, 7pm-8pm

Full course cost: £20 per participant

A two-part online course for Leaders of Volunteers to start to develop an understanding of some of the legal requirements that relate to volunteering. You are required to attend both parts.

Wednesday 17 February 2021, 10.30am-12.30pm

Cost: £20 per participant

This two-hour session covers the basic information for all trustees, whether you are new to the role or long-established.

The PDU aims to promote and facilitate collaborative learning and the sharing of good practice among professionals and volunteers from all sectors, in Nottingham and neighbouring areas, who work with people experiencing multiple disadvantage (understood as a combination of mental ill-health, substance misuse, homelessness, offending and domestic abuse, among other issues).

This session, run by Emma Bates, Sessional Specialist for Nottingham Financial Resilience Partnership, will include:

• Understanding what financial resilience is about
  
  
• Exploring different aspects of ensuring people are financially included (such as credit, banking, debt, income, saving, and service access) and also of financial capability / education
  
  
• Awareness of available services that can help people with financial matters
  
  
• Group discussions on issues faced by service users / residents and what we can do as workers to support them

Audience: This event is aimed at professionals and volunteers from all sectors who are interested in learning more about financial resilience and inclusion and what they can do to better support their clients.

Consultancy support is available for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) led and specialist organisations working with, or interested in working with, people in contact with the criminal justice system and their families.

Eligible organisations can access up to five days of support which will be tailored to their organisational and strategic needs.

A free talking therapy service has been set up in response to the Coronavirus pandemic by The Vine Community Centre.

Working in partnership with Freedom Counselling, the community centre is able to provide free talking therapy sessions to any Nottingham City residents, aged 18 and over.

The project has been made possible thanks to funding from the Edward Gostling Foundation and The Souter Charitable Trust.

A national peer-to-peer networking programme designed to bring together Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) Leaders, is looking for participants in the health and social care sector in the East Midlands.

Peer Networks is open to any small to medium-sized business in England that is interested in growing and developing their organisation for future success.

Funding is coming to an end for The Sustrans Access Sustainable Travel Support Project for Nottingham jobseekers.

Anyone interested in receiving free travel support should apply as soon as possible (funding ends in March). Sustrans can provide support to job seekers with travel planning and can offer cycle services such as a free bike, cycle training and bike maintenance courses.

In order to be eligible, residents should be over 16, based in Nottingham and actively looking for work or starting a new job.

If so, you may like to consider applying for 2027 - a 12-month, salaried job and professional development programme which gives participants the tools to become leaders in grant-giving organisations.

Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS) wants to bring together patients, carers, the voluntary sector, and its workforce from both health and social care to look at working together and designing services for the future that will help patients to recover better after being in hospital.

This ICS consultation has been launched following the release of new national guidance that outlines how organisations can work together differently to better support the recovery of discharged hospital patients.
